Diving into an adults-only playground, we attended the highly-anticipated second Adult Swim Festival over the weekend, a sensory wonderland of delights. With a range of attractions to appeal to your every mood, the Adult Swim network propelled punters above and beyond its broadcasting offerings, merging genres through adult cartoons, music & live performances.
Upon walking through the arched entrance (consisting of two elongated cats with their tongues tied) to the stadium, we were greeted with the sight of a punter riding a moving hotdog. Surrounding spectators were throwing miniature plastic hotdogs at the girl in an attempt to throw her off balance, so naturally, we joined in. Within a few seconds her arms were flailing in the air, then she landed in a sea full of hotdogs. Delicious!
Other amusing experiences included a giant slide, a VR Rick and Morty dance station and an exclusive Rick and Morty S4 screening that the fans went wild for.
The music lineup was a cocktail of icons including Leikeli47, CupcakKe, Tierra Whack and Jamie xx. Tierra was a treasure, keeping the audience engaged through hilarious banter and inviting an eager fan to perform with her on stage for two songs.
A definite highlight of the weekend was the Eric Andre Show Live!, an onstage live version of the comedy show that resulted in non-stop laughter and jaw-dropping antics. The legendary Seth Green was a guest (my inner teenage self screamed when he came out). Rappers were blindfolded in a hilarious warrior ninja challenge. Three members of the audience competed in a disgustingly messy ranch eating contest. Oh, and, Eric Andre got naked with the winner. Yes, you could see his butt. And dick. It was both shocking and amusing, yet no one could completely look away. We hope that their antics are back next year! Until then, try to get as weird and as wacky as possible in preparation for the next Adult Swim Festival, but either way, you’re going to be in store for a mind-boggling surprise.
