Damez is a Rising Voice in the Queer Hip Hop World

Atlanta based artist Damez is a rapper, singer, dancer, songwriter, and a rising voice in the hip-hop and [black] LGBTQI+ community. He showcases his talents and versatility through an eclectic catalogue of self-penned songs and choreography-heavy visuals. Born Damién Denzel Ross Henderson in Jackson, Mississippi, he discovered his love for music at an early age and began writing songs and performing in front of family as a child.

After relocating with his family to Atlanta, Georgia when he was 6, he began to explore his artistry as he experienced his adolescent years into early adulthood, going through an unfortunate series of events such as the divorce of his parents and the horrific murder of his brother Ryan Henderson at the tender age of 17.

In college Damez began independently recording music and performing live shows. He has since released a number of projects and singles globally on iTunes, Amazon and streaming platforms since his debut EP arrived via SoundCloud in 2014. Being black and LGBTQI+ in today’s challenging society has not always been an easy road for him, but he’s channelled the unique intersectionality of his life experiences in his music and hopes to be a voice for unique people everywhere.

Damez just released his newest single and visual titled “Disaster” from his highly-anticipated upcoming fourth project. With catchy, melody-driven production by EURO$, the bass-heavy record is ecstatic and right on time for this summer’s clubs and day parties alike.

Fusing the Atlanta-based trap music scene with dance choreography isn’t something that is seen often. The visual also marks the first music video edited by Damez himself. Shot in Atlanta, GA by Isaiah Jones, it was directed by Jones and Damez with choreography by Jessie Martin.

The official single follows the recently released buzz track, ‘The Code‘, which has already garnered more than 15,000 streams across platforms since its release on March 24. Damez hosted a showcase titled ‘Atlanta Meets World’ in Atlanta, GA earlier in May.

The upcoming project from the singer, rapper & dancer is expected to arrive later this year and will be his first project release since the 2018 Boy Meets World LP.
