Aune Ainson is an Estonian born visual artist, photographer and painter who currently resides in Chile. Their work is based on continuous investigations about the body and its identity. “I’m interested in exploring those states that dominate obscurity, desire and impulse; where the body transforms into something that is somewhat androgynous and transversal. These are the scenes where one lives in privacy and loneliness; moments full of silence and fantasy, where there appears to be an eclectic game with internal limits – when one becomes an other. It’s a search for new territories, exploring one’s own periphery behind everyday patterns and decoration.”
‘Black Cherry’ is about the beautiful Andrés, an androgynous transgender model and artist, who opened his doors to my invitation to play together and see what could happen. The result is an insight to his sensitive and intimate world, full of fantasy, fetish and constant transformations. This series is a part of a bigger body of work; during the last couple of years I have been photographing different queer and trans people here in Chile and Estonia. I am always trying to portray them in their intimate, personal atmosphere; to show different micro worlds within their peripheral, often hidden, beauty.
