“Bougainvillea” Explores the Emergence from Emotional Darkness

Lloyd Galbraith is a Los Angeles based photographer who focuses on the abstract editorial elements of fashion photography. In Bougainvillea he describes how he “really focused on the concept of being bound and confined. Lyena, the model, starts out in a robe and then is consumed by the background in the set. She emerges in the organza top and harness (which reflect the background that consumed her), and in the end the images start being consumed by the bougainvillea overlay. It was a really abstract concept; I was trying to capture the positive transformation that can come from going through, then emerging from a dark period in one’s life and moving forward.”
