Vinyl Madonna - Reimagining Traditional Religious Matriachs

Georden West is a queer artist whose work explores historic authenticity, gender and reimagines powerful spiritual mystics in the context of modernity. ‘Vinyl Madonna’ is part of an ongoing practice in which Georden reimagines religious matriarchs through the lens of queerness with her model, Kendall Wilmot. Transforming codified iconographic images into queer portraiture, this series approaches Madonna imagery through minimalism and transparency with the added complexities of gaze, garment, and colour field.
