Exploring the ‘Poor But Sexy’ Underdog Style of South African ‘ZEF’

‘ZEF’ was inspired by South African rap-rave group Die Antwoord’s front lady Yolandi Visser’s style, which describes a slang word in Afrikaans that roughly translates to “uncool”, “disgusting”, “gross” or “trashy”. The culture is that you literally don’t care what anyone else thinks of you. Through this editorial the team presented a trashy, colourful, weird aesthetic where there are no rules and anything goes.
